Hasn't been any new threads in a while, and lately I've been watching a lot more older series. Currently about halfway through Fists of the North Star. Some dated art to be sure but man if Kenshiro isn't badass.

Heard about the manliness of this anime yet I found out I don't have this on my list... Other than kid 90s animes, I haven't watched much pre-2000 anime

So far I think the oldest one I've seen to completion is Cutey Honey which came out in 73. Didn't think it had aged particularly well, the Gainax reboot was pretty good though. You could definitely see how it influenced later shows like Sailor Moon though.

Taking a break from Fists of the North Star to watch War in the Pocket. First Gundam show I've seen, I can see why it's recommended for newcomers to the series. One of the best war stories I've ever seen in anime.

Just finished Photon: The Idiot Adventures, another great 6 episode OVA series. No idea why that format went out of style, lot of great series have utilized it.

You're Under Arrest is kinda impressive in the level of detail each shot has.

I occasionally watched this Sunrise show when I were younger. Then came along this:

Started watching Slayers, Funi has the whole series on YouTube. I don't normally stream but I could never find a download for the series and the quality is alright.

That's a super neat anime for at least the first arc. It gets a bit convoluted later but the lead characters are charming enough to keep one interested.

Sorcerous Stabber Orphen is one of the good 90's anime that gets lost in the shuffle. The plot is really refreshing as far as main villain goes, and the whole rpg/sowrd and sorcery atmosphere and tropes really make this a comfortable watch. It's also pretty funny and has some good twists later on. Art is also very smooth for such an old anime.

Has anyone who watched GTO also watched Shonan Junai Gumi? It's the prequel and I found the "adult" oriented comedy to be hilarious.

Few episodes into Dirty Pair, enjoying it so far. 80s as fuck, in the best way possible. Also finished the first season of Slayers. Not the greatest show, but I did like the characters.

So I watched Perfect Blue. It's not exactly what I imagined when I saw "horror" unless you think horror involves eyes being taken out and almost being raped. The soundtrack actually made me laugh during the killing scenes so I couldn't take them very seriously, and also the shifting between reality and fantasy didn't help me care for them.
I don't know how I should feel about this movie. I was basically thinking wtf the entire time after the first 40 or so minutes.

You probably won't like Paprika then, Satoshi Kon's style is a bit out there
