I was not expecting that turn of events with Rikiishi. Joe's life really is tragic.
I'm seeing stuff now recommending just skipping the episodes after 53 and just jumping into S2. Not sure how I'm gonna go yet, think I might still watch the rest though.
It really is. I compare that situation to NBA as if Larry or Magic were to die at their peak (post commercial they did together).
Depends on how much time you're willing to invest. For something like Ashita no Joe, it still was a good run overall to go through the episodes for the first season, although definitely not as enjoyable as the episodes before Rikishi's fall. Also if you're the type to appreciate the improvements done, then you should watch the rest of S1 so you can see the significant things done on S2 to make it such a masterpiece. Actually made me appreciate S2 more.
