Damn. I was expecting to see someone being near KO'd or severely clobbered. Looks like a slap level attack at most.

One more season of a tank is not bad as long as there a good prospect next year. But that is how much my weak heart can take.

But that is how much my weak heart can take. I don't know if I can take it either. I guess if we can be bottom three again it would be worth it, the pick we owe to Philly is top 3 protected next year (same as this year), but unprotected in 2018. So next year would be definitely the last tank year.

Not even lovechild creation of Pop, Wooden, Smith, Phil, and Red could make this team contenders in the next few seasons. Hope he's given time to groom the team, even if they luck into a franchise guy in this draft and maybe manage to pull someone like Westbrook in the free agency.

Luke's a good hire... He'll have some growing pains.. big difference between being an assistant vs head coach but he'll do fine...
Glad that got it done and over with now on to putting his coaching staff together... It'll be interesting to see who he reaches out to, B. Shaw has to be pretty high on his list

@gts What do you think of our lakers getting 2nd pick? Also landed Shaw as assistant!! good stuff. keeping my fingers crossed 76ers pick Simmons, Ingram would slide in really nice with the other kids at the 3 spot where I think Simmons would be a bit of an puzzle to fit into a high motion perimeter based team that Walton's going to install.... Love the idea of Simmons but the kid can't shoot for shit from beyond 10 feet and we already got enough of those to deal with already...lol Shaw should be good, give both players and head coach a bit of a veteran presence... Plus he's one of the good guys, glad to have him back in the fold.

Not as much of a finished product but he will get the time and opportunities to improve. I greatly respect Brian Shaw. He is a good guy and good as assistant coach. Always had high basketball IQ. We just need a defensive specialist assistant next. Leadership is set between Luke/Brian tandem along with the offensive system. I still see defense as being a hole. Neither Luke or Shaw were particularly good defensive minds even when they played. We will need an experienced defensive assistant coach.

Looks like we are drafting Ingram! Philly said they taking Simmons. It is for the better for us. We are set for next decade hopefully at the SF position. I hope to see Russell improve his game, put on some muscle, mature. He will be the key to the future of this team.
We are going to need a decent defensive assistant coach next. Maybe sit down and work more with Randle especially. Randle needs a lot of work on the defensive end.
Also going to need a center. I would be willing to spend max money on a good center. We need someone like Bogut. I would offer full max for Drummond and force Pistons to match. Then I would offer full max for Whiteside and force Heat to match. I know Al Jefferson is not worth the max but I wouldn't mind him as our 3rd attempt. Don't see us getting Drummond or Whiteside, but nothing wrong with trying.

I have a bad feeling that the Lakers are going to trade the pick if they get an opportunity. Which I wouldn't necessarily be mad at, if they get an All-Star but I would hate to see them package the pick with anyone and/or lose part of the cap space. Seems smarter to keep a pick that may result in a legit player and then spend that extra cap space on the desperate need the team has to aquire roster depth.

I'd rather keep Ingram unless if we can get a young all-star in early/mid 20s. Who is like that and on the trade market? Only Paul George and Jimmy Butler.. who else? I don't want DeMarcus Cousins.

I just want to see how Russell and Ingram do. The other guys, mehh. True. I know there are a lot of Lakers haters, and with Jim having as much influence as he does, there is a lot of front office dysfunction. That being said. Mitch is still a terrific talent evaluator. I think both guys have legitimate stud potential. I'm not going to go on record as saying both guys are going to end up as top 5 players in this league, but they have the talent to do so IMO.

They both looked good today in summer league! -Ingram with very smooth shooting style. He looked great in his first professional game. I cannot wait to see him play tomorrow and monday to see him get more comfortable out there -Russell was aggressive but looked bit streaky. When he drove in, he looked very good. He had tons of assists and played well all around game. -Zubac was solid at center! I kind of hope he can be our center for some time and grow with this team. I think he has much more potential of contributing in long run than Mozgov. He is quick, has good footwork for a center, and showed signs of defensive potential/prowess. I am very interested to see how Zubac works out. -Larry Nance jr looks special! I think he will be a very good backup for years to come. He just has to not get too reckless and avoid foul trouble. I like his game though. I am very excited by what I saw!

Im guessing my suspicion wasnt so off the mark... Im guessing the Lakers have been at least exploring trade talks looking at Ingrams contract situation. I hope the door is closed on that now that Westbrook has resigned with Thunder.
