I fucking hate when people say that. Every movie that I end up rating high is shot good. If it wasn't shot good it wouldn't be a fucking good movie.
But no, lets applaud the fucking director for doing his job in filming something properly as some sort of faux pas to detract from the obvious shitting writing and acting. If all you can claim about a movie is good cinematography, then it's a fucking shitty ass movie.
Moe: Friend Request - 2016 - supernatural. I had this laying around in my hd and decided to just watch it instead of constantly finding new shit. I expected very little and had low expectations. The story is about a weird, outcast girl who "befriends" a more typical, outgoing and social girl in college. In reality the latter girl just pitied her and amused her until shit got weird and she cut her off. The first act is typical b movie horror shit and I found myself regretting starting it. The characters were all unlikable as fuck, nothing to take in from how it was shot or the use of sound and the plot seemed predictable. I stopped watching it about 20 minutes in but returned the next day just to trudge through it. This shit took a big turn about 30 minutes in. It just fucking exploded. There are jump scares but also some really creepy and uneasy moments that always end in a bang.
There are 2 cops in this movie that act as comedic relief in an otherwise serious movie and they are easily the best and most memorable characters which is saying a lot if you think about it. I still never gave a shit about any of the characters I'm supposed to care about. Actually, that's the thing about this movie. The protagonist and her friends are cunty but at the same time don't deserve anything bad happening to them. The antagonist is given a sympathetic backstory but at the same time her actions are stupid and nonsensical. Bitch is really mad because she has no friends essentially but the ending makes up for it and explains why she does the things she does. If I were to compare this to a similar film in Unfriended, I'd say this is for sure worse but it also has its good qualities and is very much worth a watch for genre fans. A great stream movie btw for w/e that's worth. This is shot traditionally unlike the found footage approach of Unfriended. 6/10
TSK: Green Room. 2015. Suspense. A punk rock band plays a show at a neo nazi bar. All is well until they witness a murder adore the show. I had (probably unrealistically high) expectations for this and was a bit let down. It was a very good premise and it was well done, but it never really came together. Like I feel like the movie was building to the last 45 minutes, but the build massively outweighed the final payoff. 7/10

why did i only hear amazing things about green room? It really wasn't anything special imo
I don't really get it either. Like i enjoyed it but the praise made it seem like it was going to be next level. I expected way more. I didn't even like it more than Blue Ruin, the directors previous film. Stars that weird dude they spared in the end

Watched another vampire movie called Styria. Pretty engrossing. For a bit.
Going to review it after I finish watching this movie I'm about to start. It's called The Unwanted, and it's an adaptation of Carmilla... the vampire novel Styria is also based in.
