With the new season coming up in a couple of months, I think it's a good time to rev up our NBA minds and share who we think is good, who we think is mediocre, and who we think should only play in garbage time during the upcoming season. Instead of bickering whether Reggie Jackson is the 67th best player or if its Kemba Walker, we should separate guys into a tier list instead. I think we can agree on the following formula
S - Superstar A - All Star B - Starting Quality C - Bench Quality D - Garbage Time Filler E - Only needed as a body in practice
We can use + and - to create more specific separations. Let me know if there are any changes you'd like in the format.
Post your personal list and while you don't need to include every player, but try to provide an example or two in each tier!

Harden is not a superstar.
He's an All-NBA caliber player whose stats make him look better than his actual impact. So he'd be something like an A+
Only superstars are LeBron, a healthy Curry and Durant.

I'll do the Heat and the Jazz.
Jazz: S: None A: Hayward, Gobert, Favors. All through could legit be all-stars, Hayward and Favors already should have been, and Gobert should be healthy enough this year. Only one of the 3 will be one though, even if all three are the caliber B. Burks, Hill, Hood, Lyles. Lyles is a bit of a stretch, but the dude is much better than his stats and minutes last year would have you believe. C. Joe Johnson, Diaw, Exum D. Jeff Withey - Solid player, but there are better ones out there. Shelvin Mack E. Raul Neto
Heat: S. None A: Bosh and Whiteside, that is if Bosh even plays this year (I think he will) B. Dragic, Richardson, Winslow - Maybe not even Winslow, if his offense doesn't pick up then he could be a bust. Wings need to score C. Tyler Johnson - Too injury prone for my liking D. None E. Everyone else, roster isn't looking too good

Celts should be good though. That top five of Thomas, Horford, Crowder, Bradley, and Smart is going to be fantastic going forward. Jazz will be better though, just a better overall team

Wade is going to put up 16 ppg I believe (hoping for more), and Butler should put up 21 or 22 depending on what Rondo does for him. I think this Bulls team will make the playoffs this year, really hope they matchup against Cleveland so we can finally see the LeBron vs. Wade matchup we've waited 14 years for

Funny thing, the Jazz radio announcers were saying earlier this summer that they think Gordon Hayward is better than Jimmy Butler, and I was just like "Nah! Jimmy by a mile." I assume you root for the Bulls then? I'll be sure to give you crap when the Jazz play them on November 17 on TNT, be ready

I'll be sure to give you crap when the Jazz play them on November 17 on TNT, be ready I posted this a while ago somewhere on here, but in 14? games without Rose last year he averaged 27/6/7 (or something like that) Obviously that's not a lot of games, but it is still a significant amount. I wouldn't be surprised if he put up a really good line like that. Rondo's awful, Wade's old and breaking down if he isn't already broken down. There's no other scoring options, the team isn't going to play defense anyway so he probably won't try on that end that much. The only thing that makes me think he may not is that really Hoitard for all his inadequacies (to say the least), actually did come up with a move that might have saved Rose's career which was moving him to the 2 guard basically and having Jimmy run the point. While I definitely think his future is probably running the point in a giant line up offensively, and then guarding the best perimeter player on defense...I just don't know if Hoitard is smart enough or even dumb enough to try that with Wade this year. He should really, but I doubt he will. If he doesn't he'll probably only put up a really high amount of points. Like 27 or so but on bad efficiency with some assists that isn't really an impressive amount. He averaged 21 last year with a horrible offensive team so I'm pretty sure that with an even worse offensive team he'll get free reign to take even more shots regardless of quality.

I think I actually remember seeing that stat, it might've been 27/7/7 from what I remember. And yeah offense is going to be interesting this year, I really hope they can bring it together. Wade and Rondo showed potential last year (Wade shot 50% from 3 in the playoffs, not in a few attempts; Rondo averaged 36% for the year), although the odds are heavily against them to repeat that this year. And it sounds like you aren't that big a fan of Hoiberg, and I can understand that. Wade I wouldn't say is broken down though, but perhaps that's just me not wanting my favorite player to fade into the distance. But Wade finally got healthy last year, averaged 19/4/4 and showed that if needed he can carry an offense for stretches. Obviously this is a year later, but I still feel he can do that if need be. Jimmy's going to have to pick up his 3-point shooting too though, he's like Jekyll and Hyde every year with that
