is this game depicting the farthest reaches of space or the bowels of hell?

It's an exploring game, not sure what people were expecting.. Also, don't understand people saying they used a glitch to get to the center of the universe and complain it wasn't long enough. There are zillions of planets to explore, go explore. Not sure how fun that actually is, but it's not like Hello Games didn't say this is a game about exploring.

I'm about to pick it up, but I'm coming in with really whelmed expectations even though I've been hyped as fuck about this for what 3? years now.

I downloaded it. First time I pirated a game in like.. Well since I started supporting myself. Too much on the fence where I wanted to play it right now, but it totally sounded like something I would get bored of quickly. Figured why not since they released a gog copy.

It's alright. Took some settings changes to stop making it run like shit on my rather beefy computer. And because you need to reset the game for the changes to occur and for the life of me I couldn't get alt+tab to let me back in the game, this task seriously took me half an hour. Probably worth noting I now have it on max settings just fine. Game does look good...

Now I'm messing around (on my 4th planet) and I see the repetition. Basically planet to planet with the same resources, you discover the creatures and planets, name them, mine, build up money to upgrade weapons (seeing minimal differences thus far) and your ship (basically for aesthetics and more storage, tho I haven't done weapon upgrades yet)... Then rinse and repeat. I haven't had the opportunity to have a space battle yet, which is something I want to try. The space travelling itself is boring. I now hyperspeed through that shit.

The terrain on the planets are different. Some have toxic atmospheres. When you land on a planet it immediately tells you what you're in for as far as amount resources and those robots go. But I don't know. Rather than having the feeling of landing on an entirely new planet, it feels like the same planets with a different skin. Something is missing for me in that sense. I think I'm not going to be playing this long, but I could honestly see eventually settling on a planet I like and just build on there. Once they actually implement base building and what not. And more because I'm not seeing the appeal of venturing through the universe than something like Minecraft (seen some comparisons) where it feels natural to find a spot and start base building.

Basically the game feels empty and like it's missing key features. Like I'm playing an early access game. Glad I didn't buy it. Tho I have put about 6 hours into the game, granted the first hour and a half was fixing the settings and then trying to figure out what the fuck I'm supposed to do and how to repair my ship.
