I posted this years ago on ISH, but I felt it was my obligation to introduce you to Neil deGrasse Tyson here too. Neil deGrasse Tyson is, as some of you may know, an astrophysicist and simply is a genius and a master at communicating his thoughts & science. He is a cosmologist, an astronomer, & the director of Hayden Planetarium in New York. He is also the closest thing we have to the late Carl Sagan, who was Tyson's mentor. He is continuing what Sagan started by making Science accessible to the general public. He rebooted Sagan’s Cosmos series in 2014 called Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey - I think they are working on season 2. Not only is he all that, but he is somebody inspiring as a person and as a teacher of science. He is somebody I look up to. That man is an inspiration to my life – I used to be anxious of things like death, finding peace, and finding relevance when our lives are nothing compared to something as vast as the universe. Thanks to Neil deGrasse Tyson (and Carl Sagan), I’m at peace now over all that. I present you Neil deGrasse Tyson. Here's some youtube videos of him that I have watched many times over the years (I can recommend other longer videos if you want to see more): The Most astounding FactWe stopped dreaming part 1We stopped dreaming part 2Fascinatingly Disturbing ThoughtNeil deGrasse Tyson Opens A Rocket In His OfficeAtheist or Agnostic?Intelligent Design (or Stupid design as he calls it)Check out some of his interviews and lectures if you ever get a chance (some of them are pretty long). This guy's enthusiasm makes you want to learn what he has to preach. Just an awesome dude. Enjoy!

You met him? Nah I don't associate with mooks So what is the point of the following statement? I won't necessarily discard it, but how do you know that for a fact?

You met him? Nah I don't associate with mooks A "mook" implies incompetent or stupid person. I implore for specificity of your heretic term to refer to a homo sapiens we science nerds hold dear to our ventricles. It is a serious accusation for which I require more.

His pod with Queen Latifah a couple weeks ago was really interesting. Made me actually tempted to watch the Star Trek show.

I used to watch billnye the science guy episodes He kind of annoys me when he's the host. Read his evolution book? No, never read it. I did watch him debate ken ham live on youtube on the notion of evolution. I thought Bill made Ken Ham look foolish for believing dinosaurs lived with humans and Earth is 6000 years old or loudly wondering why monkeys still exist if monkeys turned into humans, which my 13yr cousin understands is not how evolution works. Billnye is smooth and fairly neutral without getting offensive/insulting like Richard Dawkins tends to get. I know I would get frustrated after some time. I still feel that debate gave too much consideration to nonsensical notions as if scientists are still debating age of Earth or the distance/size of stars or evolution. Ken ham was arguing about Noah's ark, where he states Noah took every known species on board, but that would be billions of species. I assume he took on 2 t-rexs and 2 of the each of the following too:
