QUARTERBACKS
Jared Goff - California

Carson Wentz - North Dakota State

While he missed eight games due to injury as a senior, he had a streak of 143 consecutive passes without an interception and looked healthy in January where he returned to the starting lineup to lead NDSU to a fifth consecutive FCS championship.
Wentz was only a 5-foot-8, 125-pound freshman in high school and didn't start at quarterback until his senior year, causing him to go under-recruited, a similar path to that of Steelers' star Ben Roethlisberger.
Paxton Lynch - Memphis

Jared Goff - California

Goff was 7-5 in 2015, passing for 4,719 yards with 43 touchdowns and a 64.5 completion percentage. He had 467 yards and six TD passes in Cal's first bowl game since 2011, a win over Air Force.
"This is Aaron Rodgers. He's the real deal," Texas Longhorns defensive coordinator Vance Bedford said in September. "This young man is exceptional."

Paxton Lynch - Memphis

Entering the 2015 season, NFL evaluators viewed Lynch as an intriguing prospect, but weren't yet sold because most of his production and positive tape came against unimpressive competition. He changed a lot of those perceptions with an outstanding performance in leading an Oct. 17 upset of Ole Miss - looking unfazed against the Rebels, showing poise, mobility and pinpoint accuracy and completing 39 of 53 passes overall for 384 yards and three touchdowns in the Tigers' 37-24 victory.
However, while Lynch picked up legions of supporters with the big win, he was entirely ordinary in a 31-10 Birmingham Bowl loss to Auburn, completing 16 of 37 passes for just 106 yards with an interception. In what turned out to be the final game of his collegiate career, Lynch looked befuddled when Auburn took away the screen passes so important to the Memphis offense, raising concerns about how quickly the redshirt junior will be able to acclimate to a more traditional pro-style attack in the NFL.
