Summer 2017 TV 12 episodes Current score 7.39 (41,071) Studio: Silver Link. Silver Link is no stranger in SoL (Non Non Biyori , Watamote, etc). There are some other anime similar to this show (isekai + food porn), but this is one of the better ones IMO.
For voice acting, there are plenty of big names in the industry, led by Suwabe and Sumipe as the MCs, the head chef and the horned maido.
ps: Still wishing for Dungeon Meshi to be adapted

Finished.
Nice iyashikei anime. With limited time and too many characters, they manages to lay out some small storylines into the show quite nicely. It gives you a good view of a basic Western restaurant in Japan as well with those staple dishes.
Too bad that while the art looks really nice, the animation is quite lacking. Souma gives pretty much the same thing but with shonen theme and more lewdness.
So I give it an 8 out of 10 instead of 9.

Went in blind without reading the synopsis. Thought he was going to get transported into another world and then opens the restaurant there and I'm thinking "what an original idea". Thought episode 1 skipped the explanation of him going to another world and just dived right in. So I looked at the tag (still not reading the synopsis) and thought oh, it's a mystery. It's going to practically slowly reveal how he got to another world.
Took me until episode 2 to realize it's the reverse of an ordinary isekai. That's actually quite different. The food and the background visuals look nice. Music is nice. And this is quite a separate take from Souma. Instead of clothes ripping off, it concentrates enjoyment of eating the food.
At least a positive direction in enjoyment.

Restaurant owner getting raped. Some dude is making a killing off your menu, he gives you monthly proceeds, BUT you only ask for a bag of vegetables that they grow in their world?
I'd keep the gold coins and find out their worth.

Went to double check the voice acting staff to make sure I'm hearing correctly. Yes, I knew I heard Shizuka Itou and Yukari Tamura when I hear their characters

God of Death can't be this cute. Drinking the master's sweet and sour white liquid helps with that.

Nice little anime. Favorite episodes were the dwarves one and the customers fighting which food makes the best sandwich. Pros: +Has all kinds of different customers of different races/mythologies come and learn about the food for the first time and seeing them really enjoy it +Ties the customers in together neatly by establishing a good info dump in each half episode of that particular character's background and origin. The pieces then slowly come together, showing things like the map of the isekai world +Didn't need the foodgasm to show a good job of them enjoying their meal, so the VAs did their role +Nice orchestral music to go with the dining. +Food looks good +"Reverse" isekai twist Cons: -Animation lackluster -I'm aware that it's a simple diner, but the food served just seems like Japanese staples or common food from other cultures that is eaten frequently in Japan. In other words, food you've seen in the average anime. It's nothing creative like you see in Shokugeki no Souma -Nothing really exciting happens. I know it's a healing anime, but the frequency of the characters coming in and ordering the same meal every single time makes this a little uninteresting at times and there seem to be a little too much emphasis in deep fried foods (although that just could be because of it being a diner) -Usually the power of episodic anime comes from its characters, which the show does not do a good job in The pros aren't as "strong", but the cons aren't as "strong" either hence I have an overall slight enjoyment of the show.
Overall 6/10 (which is better than average)
For what it's worth, the ending is a definite keeper in my playlist.

Being that this is an Isekai, I kinda came in with low expectations, first episode was pleasant though. Almost therapeutic in a way.

I feel like this show would benefit from a shorter format. Also several of the dishes aren't all that impressive. I suppose the point is to showcase simple dishes done really well, but the visual presentation doesn't always reflect that. The spaghetti in particular looked real sad.

I feel like this show would benefit from a shorter format Really? It's a different story for each half an episode. Also several of the dishes aren't all that impressive Which is why I like Shokugeki no Souma more as each of the foods had more variety and unique type of combinations/recipes. Something you can feel that the author went great lengths to research.

Something you can feel that the author went great lengths to research. Sure, but it always comes down to fantasy characters being shocked by the deliciousness of modern cooking. Not a bad format, I just felt it lost its impact after the fourth or fifth time. Playing the same music track everytime didn't help either.

Nearly caught up on these now, gonna start Kyousou Giga tonight. I wanted to start it last week, but I had to do some house chores which got in the way of things. I want to be able to watch the show in one sitting. I also heard it's hard to keep up with the subtitles given the visuals, so I really want to concentrate on the show.

Something you can feel that the author went great lengths to research. If you mean Souma, they have had legit food researchers for that series. Most food themed manga/anime usually work this way, but there are some that the authors do the research themselves.
