The Blazers are on the opposite end. They have an established rotation and identity. It would take a team blowup, which won‘t happen with Allen‘s recent passing, or unusual injury to fall out of the playoff picture. They are the most consistent team of the non lock western playoff teams. Even better: Nurkic is kind of showing out early this season. I feel like all 16 of his points came in that one quarter against the Lakers, but his stats so far are nice. Eh, I'm wary on that. Nurk is up and down with his post game and his touch in general isn't that amazing. If he could get it close to 0.90 PPP, he'll be good.

Each game matters in the west, especially when 3 teams are fighting for that last PO spot. Lakers need time to gel and that‘s even being set back by this slew of suspensions. Fit and execution are things still to be answered for them. The Blazers are on the opposite end. They have an established rotation and identity. It would take a team blowup, which won‘t happen with Allen‘s recent passing, or unusual injury to fall out of the playoff picture. They are the most consistent team of the non lock western playoff teams. The way things stand now, these are the trajectories of various teams: -Denver top seed in West -Raptors as the #1 overall team in all of nba -Grizzlies, Clippers and Dallas all making playoffs. Hornets and Magic in the East making playoffs -Twolves with Jimmy, Utah, Rockets, Lakers, Thunder all missing playoffs. -Pelicans with the highest points differential in nba history with one of the highest scoring averages ever -Bulls, Cavs, Lakers and Thunder are on pace for the first 0-82 season in history. Raptors, Bucks, Pistons, Denver and Pelicans on pace for the first 82-0 season in history In fact, Thunder would be at the very bottom of the league-wide standings. Can you see that happening to a team bringing back most of the same roster? That's what I mean. every game matters. Absolutely 100% true. But it's a 82-game season, broski. So much can and will change. Teams are finding themselves, gelling and players finding their feet under them after 5 months of off-season. All 82 games matter not just the 3 games played so far. Teams fight for playoff berth at the 11th hour of the last day of the regular season and some teams get locked for playoffs in March. That's the magic of sports. We have to stay calm, let things come back down to earth because they will sooner or later, and enjoy what is in front of us. It's the name of the game. Miami Heat were around .500 until early December with LeBron, Wade and Bosh all in their primes. Not saying any team this year will be like them, but my point is we have to relax. When did I say the season was determined? All I said is that the Blazers had fewer questions than most of the other western playoff contenders and you never explained why you thought they would miss the playoffs besides "reasons" and past playoff success, which has no bearing on the regular season record. You know what's the difference between the Heatles and these Lakers? The Heatles had 3 established all stars. That is something you can have confidence in. Rockets have 2 stars and a combination of players that has had a history of collectively being a success. The Thunder has yet to have Westbrook back and he's a known commodity working with his team. Those teams have something proven to fall back upon. The Blazers have their core back for the 3rd season and their questioned bench has been a plus instead of deadweight. Now do the Lakers have the same history and team wide continuity?

We still all know they will lock playoffs berth at some point. As for why I chose Portland as odd team out was.. Well 8 teams make playoffs. I picked GSw, Houston, utah, okc, denver, pelicans and lakers. Left Twolves/spurs/portland for 1 slot. Spurs lost Murray for season. Twolves now look like they will keep Jimmy. So my reason was because I didn't think Portland would have frontcourt depth and lacked scoring off the bench. Stauskas has torn it up these 3 games so has Nurkic - both key to them starting so well. But 3 games. You think Stauskas will hold steady at 53% 3pt% to all-star break? You know he won't. Give it time. Lakers kept it close against 3 very good teams in portland, rockets, spurs with teamwork issues, messy defensive rotations, unable to hit 3s/fts, LeBron starting slow with his conditioning like he does every season, coaches trying to figure out lineups with new team, essentially growing pains for a brand new team. We kept it close versus 3 intact teams from last season. We will only get better. It's a 82-game season, which gives us plenty of time to figure it out. Teams like Blazers/Rockets/Spurs are largely intact so they have huge advantage to start the season. We will need couple months to come together. You don't need to gel right away. If Lakers are playing this same way in February/March, I will be shocked.

Their bench overall is solid like it was last season so even when Sauce falls back to nothingness, you still have 3 positive bench players. The Blazers still haven't hit their stride as CJ is struggling offensively, Harkless is nursing an injury, and Curry isn't 100% from last season's injury

He will be a star on offense for sure but defense? ehhh... Needs a lot of work on his defense.

Steph Curry had his dick out while running up and down the floor screaming "COME AT ME. COME AT ME BITCHES"
51pts 15/24 shooting (62%) 11/16 from 3pt (69%) 31 minutes played, did not play 4th
NBA is done. Fucking desk-job idiots in nba front-office, who never dribbled a basketball in their lives let alone play it professionally, ruined the game. You already couldn't play defense last season, this season you have to keep the lanes clear altogether. Not allowed to stop a fuckin nose bleed to appease the casuals. The game we all loved and grew up watching throughout the 2000s is over. Finished. Gone.
Nobody is touching the Warriors. I won't be surprised at all if Curry averages 30ppg or more on 60% shooting or something obscene. Might as well hand them the trophy.

Might as well hand them the trophy. the new rules don't help steph make 30 footers doofus Opens up the lanes, allowing him to do whatever he wants. Ball movement is key to the Warriors and that's exactly what the new rules focused on. You already couldn't body up on him - now put that on steroids with off-the-ball guys getting same protection. KD also gets an advantage from that, which allows him to tear it up further. You do not want to double-team either one so glhf. Pacing is also off the charts as a result. Another huge bonus to the Warriors, especially Steph. They excel at faster paces due to their style of play, and that is what we will get. 120-130pt games are normal nowadays. At that pace, Warriors are unstoppable in 7-game series. Houston almost beat them last season, but forget it happening this season. I just hope the players adjust to new pace or perhaps the pace slows as season progresses.. This certainly cannot be sustainable imo and not fun. I prefer seeing defense rather than 48mins of run-and-gun. Someone made the point that the Suns 7-second Nash-run offense would be 30th in pace today. That's crazy.

Making mistakes as a vet that Jordan would never make. I watched Wizards Jordan on tv live while beyond his prime, and you didn't see shit like this. Taking low percentage shots that are just costly and turning over the ball on careless mistakes in 4th quarter. Kuzma is doing the same but he is 2nd year player who nobody is comparing to Jordan or Bird or McHale or KG or Dirk. As for playing gatekeeper.. When someone says x is GOAT, I expect that level of performance without rookie level mistakes. I don't care if he is on Lakers or 7 games in. I was a huge Kobe fan and ripped him plenty of times.

Lakers have better record than the Celtics lol. In the better western conference too top to bottom.
It's still early and I don't expect it to last for long, but I just found it funny. We were talking about Celtics challenging the Warriors. Jaylen Brown looks atrocious, Tatum seems to have regressed, Hayward so bad that he has been demoted to the bench. Nobody expected this to happen.

Most fans have Celtics penciled in making the Finals, quite a few even taking them to 7 vs Warriors lol. You, rosez along with quite a few folks actually don't even expect Lakers to make the playoffs lol. Not bad so far, huh? ;)

My original prediction before season began: I mentioned 25 games in we will have know who is who.. So after 25 games, here's my updated predictions.. In West, I had GSW, Rockets, Utah, Denver, Lakers, OKC, Pelicans, Twolves -Houston will still make playoffs, but they will probably be first round exit. Forget Western Conference finals or nba finals -Utah doesn't look right guys. Something is wrong even though most of their team is the same. I had them as playoff lock, but wow.. They may be a low seed. I think either Houston or Utah will miss playoffs, but I'm so split on this.. I cannot quite cross off Harden/ CP0 in the end, but damn Utah was a defensive juggernaut last year - can anyone fall off this much with same personnel? (rhetoric question) -Clippers and Memphis have made things interesting, Dallas and Kings too. I think Memphis/Kings are coming down to Earth, and I'm not sold on Dallas making playoffs this season. Clippers look scary good so I am putting him in - Harrell is tearing it UP, have deep bench, very good coaching. They will drop a bit in seeding, but I think they will make playoffs (nobody expected them either) -Twolves are very interesting team after pulling off a very good trade, but I don't know... Team plays good defense led by Covington, and KAT has been better since alpha Butler got traded (after smashing KAT's superhot model gf, now ex-gf ). I really want to pencil them in for playoffs over Portland, but I don't know if I can. We knew a trade was coming sooner or later, but who can replace Butler's scoring and clutchness? Wiggins is still dumpster garbage. Updated 8: GSW, Rockets, Denver, Lakers, OKC, Pelicans, Clippers, PortlandIn East, I had Toronto, Boston, Philly, Bucks, Indy, Wizards, Miami, Detroit -I'm switching in Orlando and crossing off Wizards. I'm disappointed by Wizards.. I keep overrating them year after year due to John Wall - no more, no more, no more. $45mill/yr -Miami has been complete trash.. Charlotte is better and will be in -Nobody else is relevant. East is trash as usual once you get past top 5-6 teams. Updated 8: Toronto, Boston, Philly, Bucks, Indy, Detroit, Orlando, Charlotte

My cousin and I were watching the Mavs game, and we both yelled "LUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCA" after that MIND BLOWING three. What a shot. What a moment.
Top 5 play this season for sure. Doncic is special. Kings will regret passing up on Luca and so will the Hawks. Kings especially would have been special young team had they drafted Luca.
