(I didn't create thread, I merely moved this post) Voting time was over yesterday. Welcome to the second installment of TNBTE's "Simulcast" watching. As discussed, for those that are/will continue to be interested, please finish Gungrave before end of August. You can watch them in the following stream sites if you don't download: kissanime.ru or 9anime.to or another anime stream site. This is at your OWN pace. You can binge watch anytime or watch an episode a day or whatever. Should be doable with an episode a day. For download link, kungfro has graciously provided a link: Any post after August 31st, you do not need to spoiler your post when discussing the series. Please spoiler tag if you plan on going into specifics. You can choose to discuss while watching or after you finish watching. Whatever floats your boat (or if you're masochistic, sinks your boat) Info about Gungrave: myanimelist.net/anime/267/GungraveFall 2003 26 episodes Current score 7.95 (43,587) Studio: Madhouse

I love the name as well. Along with that, Madhouse, and action focused, it sounded too good to pass up

Anyone gonna watch the dubbed version or the subbed?
I think I'm gonna go with the dubbed.
EDIT: Oh damn. Reading quite a couple of reports that it's best to skip episode 1 and watch ep 1 after ep 17 or 18 because episode 1 has spoilers already.
Hmm.....

From a mafia story containing philosophies of one of the main character and their struggles to an unintentional comedy with sci-fi elements in an all-out war is quite surprising.
Still. There's some badassery, so I ain't complaining

The elevator scene is the best elevator scene I've ever seen. Better than the famous NGE

A whole shit load of timeskips. Haven't seen this much since SAO, but at least Gungrave does it better.

I'd say skip episode 1 for now. Didn't make much sense leading to episode 2.

I'd say skip episode 1 for now. Didn't make much sense leading to episode 2. It's also a major spoiler. Hell I'm just watching episode 1 and it's like the transition between episode 17-18 already and they even say the NAME of the person.

The last third of this show is very disappointing. Ugh. I'd give 7.5/10, but since the last sequence left a bad taste, I'm going to have to give it a 7 instead of an 8.

Just start ep 1.
So this is kinda like Trigun, which I never really like. It's gonna be tough to go through.

I mean at first glance, the edgy designs and such remind me of it. Haven't gone through the whole thing yet but I will try.

Just finished the series. I kinda agree with BurningHammer, it has a Trigun feel. Similar artist design and a gun heavy show. Lot of the show is a setup, which I'm not sure if it works here. It's not a bad story, but I feel it's been stretched out. Not sure if I could root for any of the characters. All of this could be my general disinterest in the show.

Kinda with you on the characters, didn't really like any of them, though Brandon grew on me a little. Show tries way to hard to be cool as well. Took a weird turn at episode 9, not quite finished it yet even though I had a month. I'll have it done within the next couple days.

Other than the cringeworthy ending, I thought McDougal was the most interesting one.

Alright episode 14 won me over on this show a little bit. Still unsure about the whole zombie plot but it's interesting enough to keep me engaged.

Finally finished it, all the zombie/sci-fi elements totally killed it for me. They could have removed all of that and I don't think the show would skip a beat. The main draw for me was Harry's rise and fall in Millennion and his relationship to Brandon, everything else just felt unnecessary. Last few episodes really dragged too. The show had some nice moments, but overall I found it kinda disappointing.

Agreed on pretty much everything. Instead of the sci-fi/zombie element, I would have preferred Harry winning in the end just to create a strong conclusion.
