Bronson Arroyo diagnosed with a torn labrum, good chance his career is over. I always liked him with Cincinnati, dude seemed like a great guy to have in the clubhouse.

Won a ring with the Red Sox in 2004 and had a lone all-star appearance with the Reds.

Muni is perfect for Joe Maddon. He will be the curse breaker this year.

One more year left of ARod but one bad contract isn't terrible. Ellsbury, McCann, and Tanaka are getting a ton too but at least you get decent production.

He has been horrible, at least Tex was good last year when he was whole. I don't think that Tanaka is a great pitcher but he's a good enough one to have at the top of the rotation. It'll take more time before we see how good he really is though, he's still relatively new to the league and it can tougher and tougher for pitchers as your opponents see more of you. I expected a lot more from Ellsbury but I don't think he's had a fully healthy season yet so I'll reserve judgement. At the very least he can be a prototypical speedy, contact based lead off hitter. Losing Greg Bird for the year sucks though. He killed it during his stint in the majors last year. Missing a year hurts him more than it does the team as they probably weren't contending for a division title either way but the extra development would have been great for him going into 2017. Also, can't say enough about how good Chapman is. He has absolutely dominated as a closer in one of baseball's best divisions while playing in an extremely hitter friendly park, he should have no trouble doing the same in the AL East. The possible effects of the suspension are the only question mark.

The possible effects of the suspension are the only question mark. CC was so bad the last 2-3 seasons, but I think he'll bounce back this year a bit. He finished last year fairly strong, got sober, lost some weight I think, and has his back against the wall right now for a rotation spot. I weirdly like him in that area. Worse comes to worst he's in the bullpen which he should be able to do effectively I think. With that said though he's 35, lost a lot of speed/accuracy over the past few years has a horrible knee (although it's allegedly fine now) and could easily give up on the team if he doesn't have it. I don't think he'll react too well to being a bullpen guy when he's still trying to get another contract in the league. He'll do his job, but I wouldn't be surprised if he was vocal about disliking it.

If having his back against the wall gives him some kind of a mental boost, I think that's the only way he's not horrible. Keeping the ball in the park is the only thing preventing him from being somewhere close to what he was statistically, his xFIP has been under 4.00 for the last 3 years (the years in which his ERA skyrocketed) but that's much easier said than done in Yankee Stadium. If he can somehow prevent home runs and reduce them to a pre-2012 point, he'll have a good season, but as he gets older that seems less and likely.

Jays with 16 runs. Even though they're probably not winning the division they should be quite fun to watch.

Tulo being happy and healthy under the Dome should be the key on the Jays' offensive side. Lacking of a real 1st batter is another minor concern.

What's your guys opinion on the LaRoche story?
I know it's been beat to death but as a fan of the team I'd like to hear what you guys think.

I thought the team went above and beyond for him and his kid. And the faith thing is entirely and completely hilarious reasoning. Like if his kid was dying, had some sort of disease that altered his life but wasn't a threat to end it, I would get Adam's rationale. But instead he's got a completely normal teenager, send your kid to school man.

Torn on LaRoche. The players going at management like this has been interesting though, Sale basically said that the organization has been full of shit on the subject.
If it's team policy or something, whatever, but the way that the organization has been acting is a little sketchy imo. I think LaRoche is overreacting no matter what the real story is though.

What's the deal with those old time baseball guys coming out and lashing on Joey Bats' bat flip this late?
If Joey takes a drill from Rangers' pitcher during their first meeting this season the story should end there, right? What if a brawl follows instead?

Goose Gossage's tirade on the bat flip was so irritating. I think he was being a curmudgeon for the sake of it.

It would be fine if he did around right after the game til the end of World Series when the story was still fresh. I get what Goose is trying to say and I think he is partially right but he should have deliver the message a lot earlier.

Seems like more and more modern players are accepting that side of the game anyway.

This subject will heat up during the season for sure, at least during Jays vs Rangers series.
