RIP
the sad thing is that if you've seen them trot him out for public appearances in recent years, then he looked really old, almost as if he himself as a person wasn't there.

He was special in-ring. He was as special off-ring. He was still special after he was done in-ring. Truly GOAT. RIP

His momma named him clay ima call him clay Still has to respect his choice of his own name later in life though. He did stick with it even he knew later that Nation of Islam is bullshit.

RIP Muhammad Ali aka Cassius Clay, the greatest of all time. Frazier, Foreman, Liston, Norton, Spinks, he beat them all during the golden age of boxing in the 60s/70s. Most importantly, he lived his life on his own terms. He did everything he could have hoped for in his own way.
This man was not born special but he showed us where working hard can take you in life. He put his heart and soul on the line every single day and every single fight. Nobody will ever say he didn't fight hard or didn't care because he put it all on the line and gave it his all. In that process, he showed us his heart and what drove him.
He wanted to be the greatest ever. He will always be remembered as the greatest ever.
These are the sort of people who show us what it means to be human. RIP Ali. Thank you for inspiring us to fight in life for what we believe in and how to overcome.

Thanks for sharing that. Makes me feel like I've been too stingy with my life. Gotta enjoy my life more.

One of my personal idols, unlike other athletes who were/are too concerned about image and endorsement deals or not to offend anyone, he spoke his mind and stuck to his principles. All men are flawed, great or ordinary; he had his bad moments and share of mistakes, but what made him great was his zeal to achieve greatness. He didn't compromise when it came to his principles, even if it cost him world titles, millions of dollars, freedom and so on. He exported boxing to all parts of the world, he exported his message and character to all over the world, Ali was a boxer and a Muslim but still he was known as an American, a great American at that. I dislike religion, but it helped Ali transform from an angry man, mad at the world around him and the injustice surrounding him to a much more peaceful one. Ali in my opinion was misled by Malcolm and NOI, but later I guess he realized his mistake and moved on from that, another side to his greatness: changing and correcting himself when called for.

"Don't count the days, make the days count." "He who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life." "Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth." "I know where I'm going and I know the truth, and I don't have to be what you want me to be. I'm free to be what I want." "The man who has no imagination has no wings." "It isn't the mountains ahead to climb that wear you out; it's the pebble in your shoe." "It's just a job. Grass grows, birds fly, waves pound the sand. I beat people up." "If you even dream of beating me you'd better wake up and apologize." "If they can make penicillin out of mouldy bread, they can sure make something out of you." "Wars of nations are fought to change maps. But wars of poverty are fought to map change." "Ali's got a left, Ali's got a right - when he knocks you down, you'll sleep for the night; and when you lie on the floor and the ref counts to ten, hope and pray that you never meet me again." I hope these quotes inspire you as much as they inspire me!
