I'll just start with who I think will be the winners of the major awards and why, then I'll get to the All-NBA stuff afterward.
MVP: Stephen Curry. This is probably the easiest choice of them all, but the dude won MVP last year, and has only gotten better this year. He does have an incredible team around him, but to deny that he isn't deserving is ludacris. I know players like Kawhi can have an arguement, but Steph will be the MVP even though I don't necessarily think he is the league's best player.
DPOY: Kawhi Leonard. I personally think that Draymond Green is better defensively, but the fact that SF's have the lowest scoring output in the league against the Spurs leads me to believe that Kawhi is elite (SF's vs. Spurs only score about 11.2ish ppg against them). That and his overall rep as the best perimeter defender in the league will net him the award I believe *when was the last time both the MVP and the DPOY repeated? Actually now that I think about it, I think Dwight and LeBron did so in 09' and 10', but I could be wrong
ROY: KAT
MIP: CJ McCollum. I don't think anyone saw CJ averaging 20+ ppg and helping to lead what everyone believed to be a lottery-bound Blazers to the playoffs. People want Stephen Curry to win it, but he went from arguably the best player in the league to still arguably the best player in the league whereas CJ went from from Bench Player to one of the best 2-guards in the league.
6M: To be honest I have no clue and nearly no opinion on this, I'll just say Enes Kanter even though I don't like him
COY: Steve Kerr. I want Luke Walton to win it and I think Brad Stevens is more deserving, but Steve Kerr is probably the best coach in the league (in my opinion he is). While that is true, I think he should be penalized for his time missed, just like some players aren't considered for MVP for being injured too long, the same should be true for coaches.
And I have no clue what EOY means, could you clarify?
Also, 200 posts!!!

EOY = Executive of the Year

I got the same. Warriors are winning 70+ game. There's only been one team in NBA history which has reached 70 or more. No way the MVP and COY doesn't come from that team.
Simply, Leonard is the best defender on the best defense.
Towns and CJ are locked in, regardless of this recent media push to try and make Curry an option for the MIP award.
Sixth man almost always comes from a playoff team, so that eliminates Barton. Who else would it be other than Kanter? Crawford? He's basically a less efficient Kanter who was nonexistent until the new year. I do hope Lin wins it.
EOY - Sam Hinkie
And I'll just do the first two teams: Curry Westbrook Durant James Cousins
Paul Harden Leonard Green Whiteside
You can flip Westbrook and Paul if you wish. Maybe Drummond for Whiteside. Lillard, George, and Davis on third. One of Drummond or Whiteside. Who else am I missing? Lowry, DeRozan, CJ, Wall, or Butler I guess. Probably gotta be someone from the Raptors.

These should be locked: curry MVP/ McCollum MIP / towns rookie
Stevens for coy.
Trading/signing for Batum & Lin enough for Cho to get EOY? Not sure how that award is evaluated.

MVP: Steph MIP: McCollum (although Barton could make this close) COY: Pop. DPOY: Kawhi ROY: Towns 6th man: I have no idea really. I'd give it to Kanter given what he does, but I don't think he'll get it. Iggy will probably get it I think though. EOY: Bob Myers
First team: Steph, Russy, Kawhi, Bran, Boogie Second team: CP3 (has a good case for first team though), Lowry?, George, Durant, Draymond third team: Klay, Butler, LMA, Dirk?, Drummond.
I wanted to reward Lowry, so I booted Lillard from the team, but I'm pretty sure he'll make it. Don't think I ignored a center unless you're over the moon for Whiteside. Forwards are weird not rewarding Davis for missing a quarter of the season and putting up empty stats, LMA had a strong second half so he makes it, Dirk I feel did a lot but I don't think he makes it. Maybe Horford has a shot.
all defense: First: Russy, Butler, George, Kawhi, Draymond
No idea on second team. I think CP3 deserves a mention, but I wouldn't put him on there. Same with Wall. Just not sure who I think gets it usually first team is biggest names that are defenders, and second is the more rewarding one.

OutRosez, can you really give Myers EOY when he really didn't do anything to the team?

Here we discuss our predictions, our rationale of our picks, and the results of the NBA season awards. I'll be posting the results when the info comes out MVP - Stephen Curry. 70+ win team. Easy pickMIP - C.J. McCollum. Blazers clinch playoff spot with McCollum being a big part of it. This should help make this an easy choice ROY - Karl-Anthony Towns. No rookie plays better than what he's currently doing. COY - I would give it to Stevens, but this is a media award, so they will give this to Kerr, which I have no problem with. DPOY - Again, media award. Draymond Green is probably going to be the victor. Was so close last season by a hair. He has the highest +/- last I recall, has that versatility of switching, and the team overall has the highest point differential 6th Man - Stats matter as 6th man. Enes Kanter because he is on a non losing team and the only person ahead of him in PPG on a winning team is Jamal Crawford. Crawford's efficiency is horrid. Kanter in 21 minutes brings 12.7/8.1 per game on 57.6% shooting. EOY - R.C. Buford for signing LaMarcus Aldridge, re-signing Danny Green to a cheap contract, signing free agents Boban and Simmons, acquiring vets like Andre Miller, Kevin Martin (although he hasn't helped at all yet). They happened to nearly win 70 games. They probably would have if it wasn't for the Warriors.
All-NBA Team (Media loves Lebron, media loves Durant more than Leonard. Selection certainly can go both ways in terms of being debatable) First | Stephen Curry
| James Harden
| Lebron James
| Kevin Durant
| DeMarcus Cousins
| Second | Russell Westbrook
| Chris Paul
| Kawhi Leonard
| Draymond Green
| Hassan Whiteside
| Third
| Damian Lillard
| Kyle Lowry
| LaMarcus Aldridge
| Anthony Davis
| DeAndre Jordan
|
All-Defensive Team
First | Avery Bradley
| Jimmy Butler
| Kawhi Leonard
| Draymond Green
| Rudy Gobert
| Second | Chris Paul
| Mike Conley
| Lebron James
| Paul Millsap
| Hassan Whiteside
|
All-Rookie Team All about dem stats
First: Devin Booker D'Angelo Russell Kristaps-Porzingis Jahlil Okafor Karl-Anthony Towns Second: Josh Richardson Emmanuel Mudiay Myles Turner Willie Cauley-Stein Nikola Jokic (selection seems awful without Jokic or Cauley-Stein even if both are centers)

OutRosez , can you really give Myers EOY when he really didn't do anything to the team? Keeping the team together and not making changes is enough for me! Anytime you win 70 games I'm fine with giving all the awards to that team.

Does Lebron deserve to be on the All Defense teams this year? Is he getting the superstar benefit of the doubt treatment?

I cannot believe people are putting DeAndre as a 1st Team All-NBA guy. I don't give a f*ck about "true" center or not. Draymond deserves that so much over DeAndre. Dude's just not a 1st Team Caliber player.
1st Team: Curry - Paul - Kawhi - LeBron - Draymond
2nd Team: Westbrook - Lowry - Durant - Aldridge - Jordan
3rd Team: Thompson - Lillard - George - Millsap - KAT
Westbrook and Durant were healthy most of the season... and ended up with 55 wins. They underachieved as a team even though they got their numbers. Paul didn't have Griffin for about 70% of the season, nor does he have an NBA caliber starting forward or a good bench. He still dragged the Clippers to two less wins while being amazing both offensively and defensively (Westbrook might be the most overrated guard defender in the league).
I'm not putting Harden in after his start of the season and how hi was a major culprit in his team being an embarrassment after coming from an WCF berth. Thompson should be there, and Lillard did more with less than Harden.
Most improved: Curry. It's not really a question. Other guys made jumps in scoring of about 2-3 points... and maybe fg%. Curry jumped 6 points and had one of the greatest seasons of all time, after a merely "good" MVP year.
EOY: The San Antonio guy. He got Aldridge. No other acquisition was close. He's secured the franchise for another half decade.

I'm proud of Kahwi. He deserves it, keeping up that dpoy level play while improving drastically in all other areas. Draymond, Kawhi, and white all would have been good choices imo.
Now i don't think Kawhi will edge out Durant for all NBA team, but second team is still a great accomplishment consider what Kahwi came from. He will make it one day.

It should have given him credibility/visibility as a 6th man candidate among media and voters. Of course, shit didn't matter. The dumb media members that don't watch many games and just write about specific teams gave their votes to the guy they remembered.
