too many strong women I'm surprised there isn't an outcry from the ethnic characters slowly being introduced. They got that out mostly in the first one, now they have to complain about yet ANOTHER girl being introduced!!!!!!!!!!!

I liked snoke's death. It was very unexpected. I kept expecting him to regenerate like Frieza SAME! That whole scene was badass though. Kylo tricking him, basically Snoke narrating his own death, then the team up, wowowowowowow. And then the talk afterwards about how they need to abandon the old ways basically set up the rest of the movie/probably future of the franchise wowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowow. gonna be hilarious when theyre somehow related

i feel like the reaction to this movie will be the opposite of tfa
people loved tfa when it came out, then kind of turned on it after about a year or so
i think/hope people start to warm to this after a while, im still not sure if i like it or love it myself

Good job. haha, it was an inside joke meant to be a dig at shade Whenever shade talks about star wars, I tell him how great star trek is and I question his allegiance to star trek. When he talks about star trek, I tell him how great star wars is and question his allegiance to star wars. Been doing that since I found out he loved startrek/starwars as much as I did, he got mad at me first couple times I did it lol P.S. I don't even know what shade posted in post I quoted. I refuse to read anything in this thread or anywhere posted in last few days. No spoilers!

Also how is Chris Terrio still involved in this?
He's had a good movie that Ben Affleck probably wrote more of than he did. A movie that people only like the extended cut of, and a movie critics hated while fans seemingly liked, although i'm pretty sure Whedon had more to do with that than Terrio did.
Disney what you doing? I'm not even that keen on JJ being back, I mean I like him and all and TFA is fine but meh.

Rian Johnson said this today@shade SugarHill they're gonna walk this back harder than they did Zendaya being MJ lol. weak It was dumb anyway. Just make her Luke's secret daughter or Obi-Wan's bastard granddaughter and use the Obi-Wan movie to set it up. They set up too much shit for it in TFA for it not to be. Kylo's reaction to finding out a girl!!!!! was helping bb-8 and Finn. In the book Kylo Ren says it is you. "I have it, my sister has it, and you have it" Like come the fuck on. -From the second trailer "I'll come back for you I promise" It's obviously a lie anyway, I just think Johnson convinced them to walk it back but they already fucked themselves into it canonically and so it was hard to get it and they tried anyway but obviously enough people are pissed about it for them to have to do something.

Yeah but he and Ben co-wrote it. That's why I think its more likely given what Terrio has done since then, that Ben had a larger hand than we thought. I mean www.imdb.com/name/nm0006516/ these are his credits. It isn't exactly a great list of stuff lol. I agree though that they're wanting easier people to work with and more stability. I'm just saying that I think they'd have been better off backing up the Brinks truck to Whedon, Michael Green (Bladerunner 2049, American Gods, Logan, Heroes, Murder on the Orient Express), Matt Reeves since he's worked with JJ before and had a hand in the latest Apes movie, fuck man hire Ronald D. Moore, all those guys are just off the top of my head that have done capable Sci-Fi work and haven't written three pretty divisive movies.

matt reeves has been my guy for episode ix since before trevorrow was even announced
seemed like a pretty obvious pick, two latest apes movies were both highly successful, really well-liked, smart blockbusters, and he made cloverfield with abrams
maybe he just didnt want to do it, or maybe his movies arent light hearted enough, idk

Alright, so I wasn't too impressed. The story was pretty good, but the writing was garbage.
Snoke dying was trash. Build him up, have mystery around him to die like that? Also, how can Kylo block him out from reading his mind like that? He is not trained enough to block out one of the most powerful beings in the galaxy....and IFFF Kylo was that powerful, how did he not sense that Luke was not actually there at the end?
Finn and Rose was trash as fuck. The fact that they went on that huge mission to get the tracking disabled when it wasn't even needed made it worse. They could have literally cut that entire part out of the movie and the movie wouldn't have missed a bit. Maybe they were trying to set up character development for Rose? But who cares about rose tbh.
I love how they have a plan that will work, but don't tell Poe and let him know. If they would have just told him the plan to begin with, they could have avoided all of that boring shit. It was cool seeing a new planet like that, just did it in the wrong way.
I hated how they were one of the only people to live after the ship blew up, then there was one ship that was unscathed when everything else was in flames. Also Captain Phasma getting wrecked by Finn was annoying. Icing on the cake was his cheesy line after he hit her.....
Speaking of cheesy/cringe lines.....why were there so many of them?!?! It felt like I was watching Spaceballs in some of the scenes.
At the end why did Kylo and Rey connect again? Didn't Snoke say the connection was what he did to lure Rey to him? Was that a lie or did he spark something between them? I feel like Kylo and Rey are twins...they could play that and spin it pretty well. They should have revealed who her parents really were in this movie tho...I don't believe they were just junkers. How can someone that connected with the force be a child of two junkers? Doesn't make sense.
Kylos story was well done. He still has a very punchable face tho lol. He shouldn't have ditched the mask...that mask was kinda a staple of him.
Those Penguin things on Lukes planet were pushed too hard. The scene where chewy was eating the chicken and they were all looking at him all sad was actually a funny scene, but other than that they were pushed too hard.
Lukes story was....iffy. At first I was on board with him being hesitant to training and helping Rey, then meeting up with R2 and seeing a blast of the past with Leia remember he was in the same situation at one time, and agreeing to train her. After that it kinda went off the rails with the Kylo story line...and he didn't even really train Rey. Idk, the whole jedi island stuff with Rey seemed off.
Leia should died...it was set up perfect. Why the fuck did she come back? wtf was that?! It was terribly done. If Leia died everything still woulda worked out. When Lukes hologram talked with Leia and her first words were "I know what you're going to say, I changed my hair" I just wanted to walk out right then and there.
Yoda scene was cool. I have to watch it again so I can nitpick his talking lines, idk if he talked like how Yoda talks lol but it was cool. Ben shoulda appeared too and talked with Luke.
The lightsaber fight with the red royal guard storm troopers was awesome. Them fighting over the lightsaber was weird...why did kylo want that when he had his own?
idk there were a lot of things I can nitpick on this movie, certain things just stuck out to me. Maybe I just compared it to Empire too much. They need to kill off all the old characters and stop referencing the past, if they would just start up a new story line with new characters and stop talking about the older characters, might have been able to handle the story better.
Also.....#ripadmiralackbar

I liked it. Snoke was like all the other prequel people who randomly died. Bits i didn't like are how good rey is with fighting and force without training and some jokey bits felt too marvel and felt like luke was in an snl parody clip

Yeah its the funniest one for sure but there's a lot of sad shit in it.

Kylo wanted it because he idolizes Anakin/Vader. That's what they're doing, only Chewie, R2, and C3PO (and technically Lando) are still alive both in real life and in the movie. The entire point of the dialogue Kylo/Rey had was about abandoning the old ways and setting up something new. Which is the turning point for the film, and then the lightsaber fight happens and it breaks which is the symbolism for that moment. With the books and temple destroyed, Luke dead, Snoke dead, and Rey and Kylo being alive they have the power to shape the future of both the Jedi and Sith. Kylo wanted to abandon both sides and start anew with Rey and she believes that the Jedi still have a place in the universe so she wouldn't join him.
