Those losses to the trashy Knicks (s/o Gibson!) really killed the momentum this team could've built. We probably could've caught up to the Hornets for that 6 seed.
As long as we get into the playoffs and avoid CLE in Rd 1 then this team can be dangerous. I have a hard time believing a full squad minus Noah can be beat 4 times by any East team sans CLE.
But doesn't look like the team wants to get there sadly.

Even if Jimmy is struggling and the Bulls won't make the playoffs (at this rate), they should keep letting him play (limited minutes) instead of shutting him down to get him comfortable again.

I got the ESPN notification that said there was a meeting between players and coaches to "let the air out"
Don't see it doing much but this team has too much talent to be playing this bad.

Need to be some serious changes with that team, everybody except Butler should be tradeable, it's a shame because they had so much potential

I love the way Rose has been playing recently though. Well, ever since about late January so he is a guy I'd still like to see them keep. If he keeps getting back to his normal self, I don't see how he can't be a top 7/8 PG with the possibility of cracking the top 5.
With that said I want them to keep Rose, Butler, McDermott, Portis, and Gibson. I loved Miro but man he has just been so inconsistent. Never know what you're gonna get from him. I know it might sound weird but maybe with the plehtora of good big men we have it kind of hinders each player's ability to fully play to their potential because we have to play all our quality guys.

Yea you are right, it's about the front court being saturated, and also when you have bigmen that play the same way they can't work together. All for keeping Rose if you dont have to give him anything close to the max

It's more of we need to play the right combo of bigs. The best big combination by far statistically has been Mirotic/Taj both offensively/defensively. I wouldn't mind trading him but the guys you listed are the only ones worth keeping, although I'm not as high on Portis as most are.

Here's my thoughts: he's a totally backwards ass player. He's good at rotating, but is atrocious at things he should be at least decent at like closing out on his guy if he's shooting a jumper. This is most notable on baseline plays. He rotates fucking beautifully, but if there's a side pick and roll or something. He frequently drops his arms when he's going to close out late, or he tries to get there but has bad positioning so the guy blows by him.
With that said, he's alright on both ends for his age/experience. I like his physiology a lot, he runs really well/smoothly. He's not a dumbass, and he's young. I don't know if he has a high ceiling or anything, but at least his floor is high. If he never improved he's at least a rotation player which is nice.

He reminds me of an offensive version of Taj when he came out. Their floor is high because they both stayed in college. So they came into the league with some experience, if that makes sense lol.
Let's be real. If Thibs was still the coach, he would have never played any significant time and would have never seen the floor for weeks with some of his missed defensive assignments.
At least we know we have a trade piece if we need one. Or we know we can trade another big and let Bobby play more.

How nice of the Bulls organization to put so much effort into the Kirk Heinrich tribute for tonight's game.
You know the same one from 2011 basically. How fucking lazy/inept can these people be?

HEY!!!
We actually won a game. Of course on the road and unexpected.....
But they showed heart even if Gasol and Rose shot the ball poorly. Unfortunately I don't think Butler will be healthy enough down the stretch for us to make noise in a potential playoff series or to play spoiler.

Unfortunately I don't think Butler will be healthy enough down the stretch for us to make noise in a potential playoff series or to play spoiler. Don't forget about these smart management/coaching decisions. Rose is visibly hurt (left hand) can't move it constantly holding it can't drive with it. BUT GO OUT THERE AND PLAY!!!! Whereas a year ago that would be fucking ludicrous Thibs decision....and the hand led to the elbow which is cool. Also I love how Jimmy owns George's soul every time they play now. Game winner here, game sealing block there, a steal there. No big thing for Jimmy. I don't get why Jimmy and Rose aren't shut down. The team making the playoffs has a ridiculously small chance, and even if they make it there's zero shot at beating the Cavs. BUT HEY!!! Playoff tickets=revenue

They shut down Rose a couple of seasons ago and were very conservative with him, then he proceeded to get injured shortly as soon as he got on the court. Perhaps the Bulls are taken that into consideration into why they haven't been shut down.
If Rose and Jimmy feel like playing and aren't feeling shitty, the Bulls should let them play, but limited minutes. To me it's better than if they don't completely play. Experience on the court against an opponent you don't see every practice session does wonders to development and/or warming them back to shape after the injuries.
This is a double benefit if they already decided not to make the playoffs. The coach just has to be smart on giving him limited minutes (which Hoiberg hasn't....). 24 minutes I'd say is good enough minutes for Jimmy. Play the first 3 quarters and then sit him in the fourth.

The coach just has to be smart on giving him limited minutes (which Hoiberg hasn't....). 24 minutes I'd say is good enough minutes for Jimmy. Play the first 3 quarters and then sit him in the fourth. The difference there is his toe injury led to an ankle injury which led to the ACL tearing. And even better-that injury occurred because herp derp 76ers closed it to 10 with 71 seconds left in the game. Because as Thibs said "he needed the minutes he hadn't been playing those ones before" Rose's streak of really good efficienct games seems to have ended, and Jimmy is still shooting as good as a piece of shit since he came back from his injury. When you've been playing basketball a decade you don't forget how to play. Sure your conditioning goes down a bit, but Rose has already transitioned into being one of those guys (like Nash) who always has to keep himself loose on the sideline regardless when he plays. Even if he just plays 20 minutes he's riding the bike in the hallway. ironically enough it was an elbow injury before the ACLIn modern day sports you don't have guys come back from an injury and force them to play through it especially in a needless season. Davis got shutdown for that reason. Then after the Pelicans are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs Jrue Holiday and Ryan Anderson (who is getting a second opinion at least) are too. And Anderson had no reason to stop playing he's a free agent this summer. Brandon Knight was the same way after an ankle injury last year. Boogie and Gay were shut down last year with a handful of games left as well while they were nursing injuriesIf anything Rose has a history of things on his body connecting his injury, and last night's game is just further evidence of it.

The only thing is though, is we aren't technically out of it. There's a crazy chance we could end up with the 7th seed. Then we could easily take out TOR in round 1 with a possible matchup of CHA or ATL in round 2. Those aren't scary teams. ATL has our number recently bit CHA could easily upset them and we have a pretty good chance at upsetting them too considering none of their key guys really has much playoff experience.
That's probably management's view on why guys haven't been shut down. And as a die-hard, screw it I feel the same too. I still want to see my team in the playoffs. I want to root for my team in May. Yea we might lose again to the same prick but let's go down swinging. We dont expect to have at least 5 of these same guys next season so let em go out with a bang.

The thing is: there's no tiebreaker for the pistons or the wizards. Have to beat both outright. We're two behind the Pistons which really means 3. Yeah there's the tiebreaker over the Pacers but to get to seven we have to make up 3 games. Obviously beating the Pistons get us somewhere, but the odds are so small. Why do potential long term damage for short term success?

Wait.
What is this?? Another win?? On the road of course. You know Rose, if the Bulls beat DET and MIL this weekend they actually have the tiebreaker over IND and DET......this team just doesn't make sense though. They should beat DET at home but will probably choke.
I do like the way Niko has been playing the last couple games. I hate his pump fakes, he should just shoot when he's open. He's been on fire recently.
