not an easter egg but something cool i remembered from Ocarina of Time. If after you get the ocarina of time and before you go to the temple of time to become adult link, you go back in the town by the houses. you get to hear the dying words of a knight, which is kinda dark for a kids game

The crazy thing is, it might have not even phased kids when the watched/read it. you're really not supposed to ever find this exchange. once you pick up the ocarina, the game directs you to the temple of time so you have to take a super unnatural route to even end up here.

I've seen Halo 3, Fable 2, Arkham City, and Psychonauts. Heard about the GTA and Luigi Mansion one.
I found the Halo's monkey family, because I was searching for the oddball skull hidden in each level.

I think I have a save file fairly close to the start of the game, if it hasn't gone past this I'm going to give it a shot.

probably doesn't really count as easter eggs, but on pirated versions of some older games they would start up and play normally up to a certain point until a character's dialogue would be something to the effect of "I know what you did!" and similar messages to impede you from progressing.

Those measures can be seen in some new games too. Not really creepy, but in a game called 'Game Dev Tycoon,' if you torrent the game, the games that you create in-game will have their sales demolished by piracy.
