What a torment of a game, I couldn't decide whether to curse at the screen or cheer till the finish, it takes a whole lot of guts, skill and luck to win in SA. Let's not forget SAS had been undefeated at home this tear.

Let's not forget SAS had been undefeated at home this tear. It takes more than that. Talent is a big part of it. OKC has the right guys to go up against the Spurs. If they had a decent coach and if KD played with more heart they would sweep the them.

I don't think it's a coaching issue so much as a roster problem. I feel like if you put these guys under Pop, they would still insist on 2v5, iso, low iq chucking. Or perhaps I'm overestimating Donovan's ability to lead. But you really can't blame a coach for not being able to change a team in his first year that has been playing this shitty style of offense for, basically, a lot of the roster's careers.
From what I can tell, the reason why most college coaches don't perform well in the NBA is because they micromanage the shit out of their programs and they hold all the power. The student athletes don't get paid, they have restrictions from allotted time to work out, grades, off the court stuff from the NCAA, university, and the team. In the NBA? The pro are selfish assholes. A single star player can hold the entire franchise hostage. The power shifts. Where a player is hold accountable in college, the coach is the first to go if these get sour in the pros. I saw the thread on ISH about why other team don't run the same system as Pop, Kerr, and Bud. It's not that it's overly complex, it's that most of the players are too self involved to do it.
Westbrook is probably my favorite player in the league that isn't old as shit and, imo, it starts with him. Then you have role players like Kanter, Waiters, Foye, and even Ibaka gives me a Bynum-esque feeling about him. Maybe if these guys had Donovan (or a better coach) 4-5 years ago. Not now.

The picture of Durant and Westbrook being a better version of this era's Malone and Stockton is becoming clearer and clearer, and it's depressing as hell.
They're just such a dumb ass team, christ. I don't even know if I can blame any one person at this point, the whole team from top to bottom is a self sustaining machine of retardery. If I had to blame someone specifically I guess it'd be Westbrook, I swear dude huffed glue before the game and even more at halftime.

If Timmy is retiring, I would hope he would announce it before Game 6. History has shown stuff like that changes games and might give the Spurs the boost they need to comeback in this series. If not then he should retire because he looks like ass out there.

Man Ibaka is a fucking scrub and KD's costly turn overs had me cringing every time, Adams and Kanter deserve credit though. All that aside, Westbrook turned into GOATbrook at the right time

Spurs don't have an answer for Kanter and Adams on the boards. The Spurs met their match with the Thunder.

Adams is a good defender and great finisher around the rim, Kanter has great post-game and touch despite being a horrid defender, what they both share are being big and elite rebounders. Donavan has realized he cannot beat the Spurs with finesse, so he is emphasising size and physicality and playing to the role players' strengths. Adams is like Perkins but with greater mobility and rebounding, that is not even mentioning his superior finishing. Kanter is the post presence OKC always lacked even if it is at a cost to defense, which I don't mind since it's way better than what Ibaka has to offer.

Also another adjustment is that Westbrook is forcing the ball to KD/Adams/Kanter more. It has led to turnovers but also to more efficient buckets for the thunder. WB playing hero ball by chucking 3s and driving into the lane while it was packed with defenders was getting the Thunder out of rhythm big time.
